Why Do I Get Physical With My Child? And How Can I Stop) (VLOG)
A trauma response can take 3 forms: fight your way out of a situation that feels dangerous, flee from it towards safety or freeze and pretend you're not there so that the thing that feels threatening doesn't see you as a threat.
Most of us have one out of the 3 that is our go-to - in my case, it's fight (with words or actions).
But when it comes to parenting this becomes taboo. Especially the topic of mamas who are still stuck - like I was - in an unconscious loop of resorting to using their body to release the build up of energy that occurs before an emotional outburst.
This release may look like manhandling or being a little rougher than you would choose to be at one end of the spectrum (such as grabbing, pulling or shoving) all the way to kicking or hitting at the other end, with everything in between.
This vlog is specifically for those mamas who don't understand where this instinctual need to 'fight' comes from and who want to stop letting it affect how they show up for their kids.
